A Stroller Update - 2 Years Later

Over the past year I have been asked many time and have had friends refer people to me, for finding the perfect stroller for two children.

I had a bit of a stroller obsession and if my oldest (now 3.5) would still enjoy being in the stroller more I would still be obsessed. He will still sit in the stroller for jogging, and Stroller Strides classes, but other then that would rather walk/ run any day.

My last post of of 3 (The Perfect Stroller For Two, Another Stroller Hunt, and Finding The Perfect Stroller For Two Is A Tough Job.)was over 2 years ago. What is still in my collection and what do I think now? Well, I have held onto Phil and Ted Sport with the doubles kit. My kids still fit and ride in it. My oldest actually prefers the back seat. When I am jogging I have him sit in the front though. It is much easier to push with the heavier child in front. I won't lie I did sell my first Phil and Ted Sport.

I purchased the two nicer models.. The Dash and the Vibe and returned both for a new Sport. The braking systems on the nicer models needs to be worked out.

The Dash: to break this stroller you need two hands and have to ratchet the handle bar down. If you have a handle bar console of sorts all of the contents still onto the child in the back seat and let's be honest. Who has two hands to brake a stroller when you are out and about with two children??

The Vibe: to brake this stroller there is a button in the center of the handle bar. If you are steering with one hand you WILL undoubtedly, accidentally, and often hit that button causing the stroller to brake suddenly and giving whiplash to your children. NOT SUPER SAFE in my opinion.

After returning both models, I bought myself a newer Sport version and have used this since. So Phil and Ted has occupied a space in my trunk for going on 3 years. I use it often and have taken it on vacations with us as well.

While my kids are getting bigger and have a need to be in the Stroller during my Stroller Strides classes and again when I am jogging (a fairly new activity for me 2nd year doing Couch to 5K)I decided to move up in the world and go for a monster stroller. I purchased a Bob Duallie Revolution for the second time. If you read in an earlier post. I had bought this and returned it because although the ride was smooth and perfect, the stroller is HUGE and heavy and made me feel like I was pushing a small car in front of me. I have gotten over it. I don't use it indoors and still hate putting it in and out of my car BUT for outdoor use and older children it was well worth the cost (for a second time).

Both of my boys have gotten up and are harassing me, so I will wrap up here, but I have tried most of the strollers on the market until recently.

My 3 favorites for MY life style or an active lifestyle are

Phil and Ted Sport with the double kit
, Bob Duallie Revolution, and
Baby Jogger City Mini (not a jogger stroller at all but great for walking indoor and out and SUPER light weight and easy to manage!)from an earlier post

Good luck on your journey to find the perfect stroller!

Finding The Perfect Stroller for Two is a Tough Job!!

So I was on yet another search for finding a stroller which would fit all of my needs with my two boys. My needs have shifted a bit and the strollers I ended up with from my previous stroller searches did not suit all of my needs any longer. Here are my two previous reviews ( The Perfect Stroller For Two ), and (Another Stroller Hunt)I know some of you must think I am out of my mind. I have returned one stroller, sold 2, gave 1 to a family member and I have 4 left at my house including my most recent purchase. Also I have 1 more due to arrive, which is free with the purchase of my new franchise (Stroller Strides). Here is the way I think of it is I will only have my two boys once, so I need to do whatever it takes to be sure I am totally happy with whatever stroller(s) I choose. I know I will always have more then one too.

SO I bought the Phil and Teds Stroller with the Doubles seat from my original review. I Love it. I still love my other two also but this one allows me to fit anywhere a single stroller can fit too. It fits great in my car and both of my boys love it! Here are the only things I would change about the stroller are the handle. I wish it hung out past the stroller 5 or 6 more inches, so that I could have less of a chance to kick the baby in the back seat. When he is reclined in the back add on seat I do sometime tap him when I am in a rush, but not bad enough to deter me from using it. Also I wish I could keep the back seat attached and fold the stroller up.. Right now I have to remove the seat, which is super easy and fast to do but for convenience sake I wish I didn't have too. The seat is connected by sliding it onto to poles and one pin clicks into place on each side.. To remove it you push in the pins and slide the seat off. It takes less time to do this and fold the stroller then it does to fold some of the others I have used , but a girl can still dream right :)?

Another Stroller hunt.. Ok, I can admit it~~~~ I am addicted~~~~ to strollers!!!!

Yup that is right. I bought another one. This is the 4th double stroller I have purchased and before this I got at my shower and purchased 4 single stroller and a snap and go frame. My husband is fed up but they all have different qualities that I like. I recently returned one double, sold one double, and have another single for sale. So I thought it was time to buy again.

I happened to see this one while at Babies R Us. Check it out

Here is what I wish was different and all the reasons that I still love my Baby Jogger City Mini. I wish it was sightly lighter and a tad slimmer (width). I wish it had a snack tray or belly bar attachment. I wish the canopy was two separate ones.

Here is why I love it.
THE PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!
The seats sit up much straighter and are less deep , so Logan can sit forward if he wants and not be slouched back so much, he can even see his brother (in the other he cant get near him) When folded it stands on it's wheels and it locks folded. Oh, did I mention it has a speaker wired in to the canopy for an MP3 player to hook up to. I also like having the option to jog , which I can't do in the other stroller and the wheels are great on all surfaces.

Now I have two great strollers. One for shopping and also great for walking in colder, rainy or windy days because the canopies come down almost to there feet :). the other great for brisk walking, jogging and outdoor fun. Enjoying some sun and the added bonus of the music for the boys and me!!!!

The Perfect Stroller for Two

Ok so I have researched and researched this topic and still had no idea what to choose..

I had heard over and over that the side by side maneuver much much more easily and I have to say that is one thing I learned on my own as well and I totally agree!

The down side to a side by side is the width and shopping in small clothing aisles like in Walmart and Target.

Front to backs that I checked out.

Contours--ridiculously long--- and the seats have to be removed to fold--- although the seats can be arranged in many ways and a carseat can be attached it is not worth the hassle.

Phil and Teds with the double kit (picture above)-- I would keep this as an option because it can go back to a single stroller after your older child is finished in it, plus it is smaller.

I initially hated the second child being under the first. Landon would hate being back there as he did in another stroller I did use, but I am warming up to the idea more and more just for the size of the stroller alone!!! this one looks great and rides like a singe!!

Kidz Cargo-- This I bought.. and I am selling it
http://www.kidzkargo.net
Landon hated being in the back without a view, same reason he would hate the Philhttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif and Teds. This was unbearably heavy at almost 40 lbs and difficult to turn with the heavy child in front above the single wheel.

Graco DuoGlider LX Double Stroller--- heavier then the tour (below)
http://www.babyage.com/products/7918g_graco_graco_duoglider_lx_double_stroller.htm

Graco Quattro Tour Duo Stroller (picture above)-- I would consider this one ---folds flater then the LX and is lighter too, has snack trays , holds carseats but still very heavy and more difficult to steer then the side by side IMO. http://www.babyage.com/products/6k00gr-_graco_graco_quattro_tour_duo_stroller.htm

Side by Sides

Combi -- too flimsy, no graco car seat adapter, no snack tray, not great for children of different weights.
http://www.strollers.com/Combi-728592-CBI1194.html

Maclaren -- split handles--impossible to use one hand ever!Tad bit flimsy no Graco car seat adapter, no snack tray, not great for children of different weights.
http://www.strollers.com/Maclaren-W0829013-ORG-EK1406.html

The Peg Prego Arri Twin -- still on the flimsy side but a tad more rugged, COMES WITH SNACK TRAYS!!!!!!!! No adapter for Graco seat and again not great for children of different weights.

Zooper--
(picture above)This would be a contender again too if I was to do it all over again...heavier but works better with different sized children, no snack tray but it accepts carseat!!!!http://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif
http://www.strollers.com/Zooper-SL808F-ZP08XXAB-ZOO1087.html

Mountain Buggy --- huge and no snack tray or carseat adapter and very heavy too
http://www.strollers.com/Mountain-Buggy-UU2204-7062-MBY1375.html

Bob Revolution Dualie-- bought this one and returned it-- Fantastic smooth ride, super eay to push and steer, has the carseat adapter and snack tray attachments but it was huge and heavy tough to fit in the car, the snack tray was in my toddler line of vision and once the attachments where added it no longer fit through the standard doors for me!!!

Baby Jogger City Mini
(picture above)-- bought this one and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.. light weight, folds easily nice ride, easy to steer even with one hand, has add ons for a belly bar and tray. No carseat adapter but reclines flat. Over all I am thrilled with the stroller. It is a pain to have to take the sleeping baby out of his seat, but only another month or so of that anyway. Fitting in Walmart and Target can be a challenge too but I couldn't get around there in my single stroller as it was LOL No regrets with this one I LOVE IT!!!
