We are actually spread out a bit.

BePeBaby.com is taking up space at my home, my mothers home, my aunts home, my grandmothers home, and a very sweet seamstress we found last year's home.

My house has one closet, one bedroom, a space in the living room, shelving in the basement and a cabinet in the office. Ha ha it is even worse then it sounds. I just recently moved out of the office and living room area and moved into a bedroom because BePe Baby was taking over our home :)

My mother was in part of her living room and a bedroom and has since cleared out and moved down to her finished basement area, plus a space in her living room.

A Community of People I Love!

Since becoming a mother, I have opened up my life to a continuously growing group of moms. Teaching Stroller fitness classes and a mom's boot camp style class, organizing a mother's group, starting a baby boutique, and becoming friends with an overwhelming number of local mothers.

This group of moms is dedicated to helping each other out, listening, sharing and understanding. Being a mom is the best job in the world and it is also a huge responsibility. It can be overwhelming, isolating and frustrating. Every moms needs someone to share with, who can understand her joys and frustrations and quite frankly MOST dad just don't get it and grandparents forget.

Just a thought I wanted to share. If you are a moms of young ones, look for a group near you. Google mother's groups. I use Meetup, big tent and facebook for the most part, but there are many places to look. Don't be alone, you don't have to be.

First Craft Fair of the Season for BePe Baby

our first fair of the season was wet and cold. It poured on us for all but an hour. We were drenched and our items were all damp by the end of the day. Our tent actually was picked up and floated away 2 feet during a pick up of the wind. We threw in the stakes after that episode.

After a long wet day with few shoppers we headed home. We did manage to sell some things and at least we didn't lose money. Today, of course, is sunny and beautiful out! Ahh well. Can't win em all.

BePe Baby faced with Big Troubles

Just a reminder to every one!
We will be seeing a rise in the cost of children's products.

A bill was passed in August that all products (room decor, bedding, toys, clothing etc.) will need to be tested by a accredited 3rd party for their lead limits. there are a few exemption but for things like wool and cotton in the natural state. Raw, unbleached, unprocessed, undyed.

There has been some reprieve for resellers for used clothing and such. They will not need to retest items.

For large corporate businesses they will be able to absorb the cost of testing and can rise the cost of their items by a smaller percentage to cover the testing costs.

For smaller businesses this means trouble. Each batch, each size, each style, each color needs to be tested. The cost is around $50-$100+ an hour and $5 per item not including shipping. Most small businesses will not be able to stay a float with these costs. The fines are high for offenses.

Many handmade sellers of children's products will be closing shops and unable to sell.

There has not been much national coverage on this topic but you can find lots of info on the web about it in the local news and presses.

As of Feb 10th (only a few weeks away) some of your favorite shops will be changing. This includes BePe Baby I am sad to say. if your toddler or baby still needs slippers get your orders in before Feb 10th. If they do not add more exemptions we will be removing all of our baby/ toddler items from the site and remodeling to sell some of the other items.


I want to keep our children safe, but really now. Many of the items that still will require testing could not possibly have lead in them!!

So BePe has a big craft festival this weekend in Wakefield MA. I have had lots of help with the preparing. My mother and I have been sewing up a storm! I think I have close to 100 pairs of booties and slippers, 25 + bibs, 15 sun hats, 10 Diaper Roll-Ups, Gram's Hand-Knits and some adorable outfits like diaper coves with matching hats and button up shirts for the boys and dresses and sets for girls. Next year I will have more time to prepare. This time around I was invited to two big festivals but would not have had enough time to prepare for both so I had to refuse one. Let's hope this pans out. Other wise I have a ton of stock to store at my house :) Here is a sneak peek at a few of the items coming.
